Recent U.S. presidential orders have tightened travel and immigration policies. Key changes include:
- Gender-neutral passports will no longer be issued or renewed.
- Foreign nationals aged 14+ must comply with the Alien Registration Requirement if staying 30+ days (unless they were already registered when applying for a US visa).
- Entry bans affect nationals from several countries, with visa suspensions for others; exemptions or waivers may apply.
- Visa processing at certain embassies (e.g., Niger, Zimbabwe) has been suspended; most Palestinian passport holders face restrictions.
- H-1B visa petitions now require a one-time USD 100,000 fee (affecting only new applications).
- Security reviews have paused ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) for Romania, rescinding its Visa Waiver Program designation.
Beginning December 2025, all foreign nationals, including Canadians, will gradually be required to be photographed upon entry or exit at airports, land ports and seaports.
