Overnight on 3–4 November 2024, at least nine people were killed after Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara province, erupted. Around 16,000 residents were evacuated and hundreds of homes were damaged. Authorities advised avoiding areas within a six-kilometre radius (3.7 miles) of the volcano, particularly its north-northeastern and northeastern flanks. The volcano remains at the highest alert level IV, as of 2 December, with intermittent eruptions producing thick ash clouds and all human activities are prohibited around Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki.

Air quality in East Flores regency may remain poor due to ash and volcanic gas emissions, affecting outdoor activities and health. Road and airport closures could occur at short notice in East Flores regency, especially near the volcano, where lava flow and seismic activity have damaged routes.
