Eeva Ruuska, Americas Operations Manager at Riskline talks to Express.co.uk about the incredibly beautiful island paradises that are almost impossible to visit as a Briton. Eeva mentions: “Micronesian islands like Kiribati and Nauru are tropical island paradises but the remoteness, limited flight schedules and strict visa regulations make them one of the hardest to visit.”
Kiribati has just over 110,000 residents, and it is an extremely beautiful island. However, it is very difficult to reach because of its remote location.
Nauru, which is also renowned for its beauty, is nearby. However, due to COVID-19, tourists have been asked to consider whether it is necessary to travel to Nauru and to cancel and delay all trips if possible.
Eeva says: “Besides holiday destinations, Eritrea is extremely difficult for tourists to gain access to, with visas granted sparingly. All travel must be pre-arranged by the Government and visitors are restricted to only a few areas.”
The British Government advises against all travel within 25km of Eritrea’s land borders. Consular assistance is very limited in parts of Eritrea.
Foreign nationals need to obtain a permit to travel outside Asmara, the capital city, and its surrounding province, Zoba Maekel. Tourists need to provide a lot of details to obtain the permit, including details of the car they’ll be travelling in.
