With the launch of the Australia-New Zealand quarantine-free travel arrangement, we look at the nature of travel bubbles in the region, and what this means for business travellers.
We discuss why travel bubbles are the way forward to resuming travel within APAC and examine some recent agreements between Australia and New Zealand, Singapore and Taiwan, India and several European countries, to illustrate how stringent mechanisms are likely to be in place for upcoming travel bubbles in the region to make it truly viable.
We will also look at the prospects for replication of similar travel arrangements across APAC and beyond. Will the region be a model for the rest of the world to follow, given its lower COVID-19 infection and fatality rates? Ultimately, how will these arrangements affect travel recovery in APAC?
